Puget Sound SIGCHI hosts Justin Marx, Principal UX Designer at Nordstrom for a talk on why providing coherent, learnable paths through content is at the heart of digital product design.
Whether we're building a social mobile app, an enterprise e-commerce site or an airport check-in kiosk, designing an experience that our users can navigate with as little friction as possible plays a huge part in whether or not it will be considered "intuitive". To do so, we need to understand how and why our users approach our products, and these issues have deep roots indeed.
In this session, we'll explore some of the behaviors underpinning the use of navigation systems. Along the way, we'll take a look at mental models, subway maps, monkey wrenches, and a even little bit of evolutionary biology undefined all in the name of better product design.
