Big Data’s Possibilities and Our Fears with John Foreman

  • Town Hall 1119 8th Ave Seattle, WA 98101 USA (map)

Town Hall hosts John Foreman of MailChimp for a talk on data science and tracking.  He will discuss how data can be used to provide better, more customized experiences but he'll also address the potential for fear.  Foreman will explore the positive effects — and potential consequences — of targeted analytics, data science, and big data.

In Data Smart: Using Data Science to Transform Information into Insight, he offers a comprehensive guide to spreadsheets, algorithms, data mining, and other cutting edge analytics used by big companies like Facebook, offering accessible, concrete tools for anyone “wanting to turn raw data into action.” Foreman is the Chief Data Scientist at MailChimp.com and the mind behind Analytics Made Skeezy — a blog using meth addicts, frat houses, and other “skeezy” topics to make data relatable.
