Town Hall hosts Andrew Hodge's, author of Alan Turing: The Enigma for a discussion on the computer scientist, mathematician, and WWII code breaker.
From his work to decipher encoded German messages during the war, to his conviction as a homosexual, Turing’s story is chronicled Hodges' book. He will share little-known details of Turing’s life, analyze the far-reaching influences of his work, and explain why, even today, it’s important to recognize — and remember — the work of this once-celebrated, once-criticized genius.
A University of Oxford professor, mathematician, author, and gay rights activist, Hodges’ book is the basis for a newly-released film starring Benedict Cumberbatch as Alan Turing.
