Join IxDA Seattle for Movie Club, where we watch and discuss a design related movie or documentary. This month, we'll be watching two of the UX TED Talks that every designer needs to watch.
Simplicity Sells by David Pogue (2006)
Recorded in 2006, then New York Times technology columnist David Pogue put technology’s worst user experience offenders on blast. He did this in order to showcase a perennial UX challenge: How to make a product full-featured enough for people to want to buy it, but simple and intuitive enough for people to want to use it.
The Impact of Persuasion by Don Norman (2011)
In this 2011 talk, Norman explores what the will in “free will” ,and why that question matters. As designers, we want to persuade — not force — the user to act. For example, Lay’s designed their potato chips to persuade users to eat the whole bag. But what does that do to the health of a society? And what is a designer’s responsibility in the creation of those experiences?
We will start our online watch party at 5:30 pm, followed by a discussion session with our panelists at 6:10 pm.
💎 You can watch these and other talks for free and at your own convenience prior to the event, or you can bring your popcorn and watch it with us.
