Balance in Design: Community Storytelling
IxDA Seattle is accepting proposals for an evening of lightning talks! This event on Tuesday, August 20th is part of the Seattle Design Festival - this year’s theme is “Balance”.
As humans (who also happen to be designers) we balance a variety of things in our daily lives, such as: family and career, business and community, local and global focus, human and high tech consideration, accessibility, ethics, and other similar themes. But we rarely have an opportunity to share with one another our vulnerabilities, our successes, and most importantly, our failures.
How do you find and maintain balance? How you shift or re-align balance? Or do you reject balance? Are there times when it's more beneficial to disrupt balance?
We are looking for speakers to give a short (up to 8 minutes), true story from your life, inspired by these prompts. Your presentation does not have to be a direct response to those questions, but it should address a specific aspect of the intersection of Balance and Design that you’re passionate about. We welcome tactical, actionable talks and anecdotal, experiential stories, alike.
To submit a lightning talk proposal please fill out the form below by August 7, 2019 (11:59pm).
If your talk is chosen, you'll have an opportunity to make modifications to the description -- we just need the general description for now!
